An Ode to Okra

Here it is the first Hump Day of the month, blog-due-date, and once again I’m running behind.

Good news is I’m leaving tomorrow to attend a Writer’s Retreat in Kauai so I’ll have a real travel story next month; bad news is this post will leave you questioning its purpose and content. Some things in life are just beyond reason…

AN ODE TO OKRA

On display at Farmer’s Market

the only basket of your kind

I almost walked right passed you

Okra not being on my mind.

Then visions of viscidity

Got me in the mood

While often unjustly overlooked

I know you’re Superfood.

I brought you home and gave you a steam

No need for gumbo or stew

When given a chance you delight on your own

And now I’m hooked on you.
